creative inspire 4.1 volume control

i have search the entire net for nothing. a friend of mine had a creative inspire 4.1 speaker and for almost 7 years it was not used because the volume connector which has the switch to turn on the device was lost. search the entire net for schematics and wiring diagram for the ps2 connector but found nothing. there are guides on how to tweak the wires yet the color coding of wires was not properly labeled in the male ps2 connector. the ps2 connector in the mouse and keyboard have 2 unused pins so the problem is to create a ps2 connector...

so, this is what this blog is about.. to build your own creative inspire 4.1 volume control right from scratch...

this is the schematic diagram taken from the actual volume control.

from the schematic diagram, i draft the new PCB layout so we can still the genuity of the creative inspire 4.1 speaker.

  •  from the leftmost rectangle is the connector wires, :from top to bottom: line1, line2, ground, speaker and voltage input
  • vertical resistor, from left to right: 2.7k, 1.5k
  • horizontal resistor, top to bottom: 4.7k, 24k
  • the circle is the 10k potentiometer, left to right: line1, ground, speaker, voltage input, line 2

female ps2 connector. this is from the back of the creative inspire 4.1.
there are no available diagram on the net so i created my own. from trial and error and from locating contact in the mother board.

this is the bottom and top part of the remake volume control board.
components used:
  • 1.5k
  • 2.7k
  • 4.7k
  • 24k
  • 10k potentiometer with switch
  • green LED
  • utp cable
  • pcb board

i hope this help guys.
